September pickup sales edge down; new energy exports shine

In September, the pickup truck market sold 46,000 units, down 1.9% year-on-year but up 14.6% month-on-month, standing at a medium-to-high level in the past five years. From January to September, cumulative sales reached 432,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 11.2%. Among them, both the new energy and export markets maintained a sound growth momentum.
 
In the first echelon of the pickup truck market, the "top six" showed a mixed performance in both monthly and cumulative sales. Jiangling Motors, Changan Automobile and Zhengzhou Nissan achieved year-on-year growth in monthly sales, while Great Wall Motors, SAIC Maxus and Zhengzhou Nissan saw year-on-year growth in cumulative sales.
 
According to data released by the Passenger Car Market Information Joint Committee of the China Automobile Dealers Association, the pickup truck market sold 46,000 units in September, down 1.9% year-on-year and up 14.6% month-on-month, remaining at a medium-to-high level in the past five years. Cumulative sales in the first three quarters reached 432,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 11.2%.
 
Driven by the wave of electrification and intelligentization, new energy pickups continued to grow. In September, sales of new energy pickups reached 4,000 units, surging 104% year-on-year and 31% month-on-month. Cumulative sales in the first three quarters hit 54,000 units, a 440% increase, showing a much better trend than fuel-powered pickups.
 
Similarly, pickup truck sales in overseas markets maintained a good growth momentum. In September, 26,000 pickups were exported, up 3% year-on-year and 22% month-on-month, with the industry's export share remaining high. Cumulative exports in the first three quarters reached 228,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 28%.
